The LORIS DIRAN Ready-to-Wear collections, entitled ARMOR, explores how individuals protect themselves in these turbulent times and how we wardrobe ourselves to get through the day; Be it on the chilly New York streets, in the workplace, or how we want to be perceived by the society we live in.
Says DIRAN, We all choose a way in which we are viewed by those around us and we create a kind of protective layer, allowing various levels of exposure of our true selves to show through, depending on our moods or needs. This is true in our careers, in our relationships, and is most evident in our style sense.
Boucles and Tweeds become glazed in burnished silver and are combined with traditional menswear fabrics to create chic, modern silhouettes. 14th century Japanese Armor inspires much of the detailing on this collection and that spirit is evoked in unexpected ways. I discovered a unique connection between how protective clothing of the medieval period related to our use of power suiting and fine tailoring in our times. We still wear Armor, only for different purposes.
This is reflected in a rich palette of neutral tones, such as Obergine, Camel, Silver Grey, Charcoal, and a unique Black and Cream grouping cut in luxurious Wool Crepes, Cashmere Twills, Traditional Pinstripes, and unique Tweeds. A new collection of hand knit Cashmeres and Angoras join the collection to complete the offerings.
